DEMO: WEAVING + Hands-On Crafting Activities
12:30-1:30pm
Weaving demonstrations by Harmony Weavers Guild member and weaver, Gerry Scarfe.
Turning thread into fabric can be pretty complex; just warping a frame (setting up a loom for weaving) can take hours or even days! Longtime weaver Gerry Scarfe will walk us through some of the steps. Then we’ll try a little creative weaving of our own on some simple d-i-y looms for a make-and-take craft.
Free event. Limited seating.

Join the HdG Green Team to watch and briefly discuss the documentary A Sea Change – “A life-long sportsman and retired educator, Sven Huseby considers himself a well-informed environmentalist. But he is caught by surprise when he reads about the effect of excess carbon dioxide on the ocean in Elizabeth Kolbert’s New Yorker article, “The Darkening Sea.” Sven embarks on a mission to learn more, wrestling with the possibility that his five-year-old grandson Elias will inherit an ocean bereft of the fish which have meant so much to their family. Sven uncovers research on the world’s acidifying seas and its dramatic implications for our culture and economy.” Each documentary presented by the Havre de Grace Green Team at the Havre de Grace Opera House is free to the public. This program is made possible through the support of the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway.

Lettice and Lovage
Lettice Duffet, an expert on Elizabethan cuisine and medieval weaponry, is an indefatigable but daffy enthusiast of history and the theatre. As a tour guide at Fustian House, one of the least stately of London’s stately homes, she theatrically embellishes its historical past, ultimately coming up on the radar of Lotte Schon, an inspector from the Preservation Trust. Neither impressed or entertained by Lettice’s freewheeling history lessons, Schon fires her. Not one to go without a fight, Lettice engages the stoic, conventional Lotte in a battle to the death of all that is sacred to the Empire and the crown. This hit by the author of Equus and Amadeus featured a triumphant, award-winning performance by Dame Maggie Smith in London and on Broadway.

The Actors Guild of Harford Community College proudly presents:
Little Women by Kate Hamill
Adapted from the novel by Louisa May Alcott.
Jo March isn’t your typical Victorian lady. She’s indecorous and headstrong, and one day she’s going to be a great American novelist. As she and her sisters grow up in the middle of the Civil War, they strive to be brave, intelligent, and imaginative young women. But as adulthood approaches, each sister must negotiate her private ambitions with society’s expectations. In a war-torn world defined by gender, class, and personal tragedy, Jo March gives us her greatest story: that of the March sisters, four dreamers destined to be imperfect little women.
“Ms. Hamill’s feminist-friendly spin on the classics never fail to sound an engagingly original note… an ingenious compassion of Alcott’s novel that is by turns funny and painfully poignant…it touched me to the heart.” —Wall Street Journal.
